If you’re drowning next to me

and you’re doing your best not to disturb me or bother me with it

and I’m not sure if I should help

or exactly how or if I have your permission to touch you

as I explain to you, in between your gurgles,
the hashtags of it all to you and how aware I am that I don’t want to interfere

or intrude     or interrupt       or impose upon your processes

with my selfish urge to help

and thereby and forthwith impact adversely your own sense of agency

Well,

I want you to feel free to kick me in the balls

way before you slip under

…for two primary reasons:

  1. It may save us both somehow if you did and
  2. Well…just because…

Do I need to explain?
