No matter how bright you are, no matter how long, how diligently, how brilliantly even, you studied, learned and became acknowledged as a ‘cutting edge’ thinker, a ‘leader in your field,’ the ‘head of’
. . . (fill in the blank)
No matter all that . . . you, we, me
We all get to the place in our learning and career where we’re flat up against all of the questions that no one, not even the “I” almighty (self-proclaimed), has the answers to. I refer to this as the in-between zone . . . we’re in between the fairly certain and the totally unknown . . . we’re in-between . . . the “I” don’t know . . .
And, if we’re as bright as we’d like to think, we’d realize that we’re actually right back where we’d started: I don’t know is where our educational process began and it’s where it takes us to. Just thought I’d point that out.
Now, this is the truth:
No matter who you are
What you like or whatever you do
You did not start it and it will not end with you. You are not the Alpha and the Omega. None of us are. Whew!!!
Isn’t that a relief? To be part of a process, a continuum?
You know me, just wondering . . .
P.S. If “I don’t know” is the start and end, what are we circling? It can’t be knowledge, because we know we’ll never know everything. And, in that moment, you might notice that our thinker will never be out of a job . . . good thinking . . .
