It’s a funny little oddity about our human nature.
It seems as though whenever someone begins to open up, I mean really be honest about something good, or precious or touching or even sacred or profound in their day or this moment or their life in general…
Well, whenever such a moment occurs, when they or we start…
or both dare enough…or feel safe enough… or both…to open up about something that impressed us or impacted us or blessed us or we got lucky about….whether it be a thing of beauty or the goodness that came out of nowhere or the grace we felt unexpectedly from another driver,…
…even as we want to open up about it…we also want to be careful not to seem to be boasting or bragging…so we share it somewhat sparsely and want to shut it down…throttle it back…tamp it into something manageable and explicable…before anyone gets the wrong impression.
So…our goodnesses…our feel-good experiences…get brushed over…never fully aired or examined or mined for additional truths or insights…by myself and certainly not by you…who I would now be ushering very politely out of and away from this topic, just as gracefully as I had invited you in…
My suggestion is, my practice is, to open up willingly and trust…that two people honestly and lovingly opening up about what’s good and, perhaps,
what’s troublesome in their day to day,
will always be led in their dialogue back and forth to the answers they seek through and by the love they share.
It’s worth a try. It’s worth a lotta tries. I promise you’ll feel better and better the more and more you lean into this…
