We watch horrified    aghast

and deeply stirred…

and we turn to look within ourselves, day after grueling day, to ask ourselves a deeply troubling series of questions:

— have we not, individually and collectively, after two WWs et al, outgrown barbarism?

— have we not, individually and collectively, outgrown dictatorships altogether? No matter when and where those energies attempt to coalesce?

All dynasties and monarchies are holdovers from choices made from another level of our collective consciousness—a lower, more primitive, baser level—that remains, for those with a vested interest, their option of choice…selfishly—unawares or not—ruthlessly…

Those of us who have attempted to “grow” or “learn” or “develop” different responses/reactions/actions/choices… (usually by practicing certain practices and principles under the auspices of and in community with other seekers)…trying…as has seemed to be…in the direction of more kindness, not less…more honesty, not less…more trusting, and not less…more loving, and not less…

When we focus our attention on the more of those…those things that grow us and help us to feel better about ourselves and one another…we don’t become “Better” quality humans…we don’t want to separate…we want to connect…

Here’s the truth about relative motion…if one person is growing in this fashion and one person is not, the person who is not, ‘feels’ like the other is pulling away…

Here’s another truth: I have never read or heard about a joyful dictator or tyrant.

Present world conditions have most of us appalled. Good. Our hearts have not hardened completely…(if at all?) The goodness in each of us is rising to meet the occasion of this unimaginable calamity of lives and limbs torn apart anew…

…to meet the inhumanity, the utter cruelty, with ingenuity and the true courage of our spirit(s)…

…with and in love together…

as a species that would prefer to stop killing itself.

We don’t know exactly what good we can attempt or what we’re going to eventually do…

…we’re sorta making this up as the spirit moves us to…

…and so many of us are being moved to contribute to the overall effort for the goodness and decency in all of us to be evidenced…

We can literally and actually ‘see’ the inexplicable nobility of the actions of genuine caring taking place without regard for placing personal safety…first, foremost and only.

It’s downright inspiring.

We can ‘see’ our human spirit in the faces of our brothers and sisters and innocents who are suffering and rallying—in distinct and specific ways, to personally (and, then, watch, as it becomes collectively) express our fierce intentions to band together to resist.

Many of us no longer believe, at all, that “might makes right”…ever…

…that the perversion of the golden rule (they who have the gold, make the rules) is just that, a perversion.

Enough of us, and that’s a whole lot of us, have no interest in apathy or isolation or the nationalism of any particular fanatic. We can and do honor all cultures and peoples as equally different, equally valuable, equally interesting, and equally in this process of facing ourselves squarely.

We are uniting. We are pulling together. The individual acts of totally believable and spontaneous self-sacrificings urges the goodness within us all to pitch in…however and wherever and whenever we can…

It’s downright uplifting to witness

and crushing to witness…simultaneously.

More and more, the ‘better-ness’ within us is emerging resolved.

The ‘old guard’ is terrified.

The established hierarchies are crumbling from within.

Those still adhering to those values and ways can sense that love is rising and will prevail. It always does.

That’s what every human spiritual tome has ever pointed us towards. It’s even in the bible, the koran, the torah and almost every institution or organization dedicated to spiritual practices. If we read them caringly for the spirit in their letters…not looking only at the letters…wanting to take them literally.

Kindly remember: What we truly believe, we take actions upon. Everything else tends to be abstract and theological.

Follow your own heart.

You’ll always feel better if it’s aimed in the direction of genuine caring.

We are in this world together…for better or for worse…

I set my intentions…and continue to try and believe in the bettering of our alignment with our goodness…with our truest spirit…

And I cry…like so many of us now…

A lot sometimes
