I walked by a large unshelled garden snail.

On a pebbled pathway we were.

I noticed the snail.

The snail gave no noticeable indication of my existence.

It (the snail) ‘existed’ for me.

I, however, suspect that I do not ‘exist’ for the snail . . .

. . . unless I choose to interact with it at a speed and a level of sensation that its biology can detect.

The moment I am ‘detected,’

I ‘pop’ into existence.

Is that not how this works?
